“Monster” on Netflix: Everything we know about season 2 of the true crime series on Netflix

In a second teaser trailer, the Menéndez family can be seen. Mother Kitty can be heard off-screen, asking father José what is going on between him and his sons. It seems as if this is already hinting at the alleged abuse, which never happened. At the end of the teaser, the brothers are seen in their underwear, hugging each other and saying “Now we only have each other.”

At this point, we are quickly certain: The second season of “Monster” will, with its aesthetics, trigger a similar, questionable hype as the episodes surrounding Jeffrey Dahmer.

Trailer for the second season of “Monster” on Netflix

On September 4, 2024, Netflix released the first long trailer for “Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” It already gives a little insight into what the episodes of the new season will be about: It shows the time before and after the murder of the Menendez parents – how Javier Bardem, as a father, mistreats his children and Chloë Sevigny, as a mother, sits by silently and drowns her sorrows in alcohol.

It is also clear that it was not a crime committed in the heat of the moment, but that the Menendez brothers planned the crime and then lived a life of luxury to forget their toxic family relationships. It was only then that the police became aware of the brothers, who were allegedly at the cinema at the time of the crime, and of the perpetrators. Erik struggled with the crime, and Lyle assured his brother several times that “they would be proud of us now.”

After the trailer, it can also be said that the murder depicted is highly likely: It is unclear whether the parents' shot-up faces will be shown, but it will definitely be talked about.
