Rams place cornerback Darious Williams on injured list – Daily News

LOS ANGELES – The Rams placed cornerback Darious Williams on the injured list on Thursday, ruling him out for at least the first four games of the season.

Williams, who returned to the Rams this season as a free agent after two years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, suffered a torn hamstring during the first week of training camp. He had only recently returned to practice and participated in limited practice on Wednesday.

Head coach Sean McVay said before practice on Wednesday that Williams had not suffered any setbacks regarding the injury.

“He suffered a good hamstring injury early in training camp, but he's making progress,” McVay said.

Williams' absence leaves the Rams in a precarious situation at cornerback ahead of Sunday's season opener against the Detroit Lions.

Third-string cornerback Decobie Durant is dealing with a hamstring injury and has been limited for three straight practices. If he can't play on Sunday, the Rams may have to rely on undrafted rookies Josh Wallace and Charles Woods as backups alongside Tre'Davious White.
