IPoB claims that Biafrans are being held in secret internment camps in Nigeria

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) organisation said it had uncovered secret detention camps where Nigerian security forces allegedly held some Biafran activists and detained them incommunicado.

The group stated that it wanted to raise public awareness about the secret detention centers, which are the site of horrific human rights violations, mistreatment of innocent people, torture, organ harvesting and enforced disappearances.

The secret detention centres, according to a statement by IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful, include: Wawa Military Base, Kanji Dam Detention Camp, Niger State Barracks and Prison, DSS Headquarters Abuja, Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Slaughterhouse, Abuja, Tiger Base Police Prison, Owerri, Imo State, Goodluck Jonathan Barracks, Ohafia, Abia State, Zone 9, Umuahia, Abia State Detention Camp, Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra State and Onitsha Barracks, Anambra State.

Otters are Naval Base, Ogbaru, Anambra State; SARS Awkuzu, Ukpo, Anambra State; 82nd Division, Enugu; Military Barracks, Enugu State; Obinze Barracks, Owerri, Imo State; Central Police Station Headquarters, Umuahia, Abia State; State CID Headquarters Awka, Anambra State; Asaba Naval Base, Delta State; Enugu Maximum Security Prison, Enugu State; Port Harcourt Maximum Security Prison, Rivers State; Aba Prison, Abia State; Abakiliki Prisons, Ebonyi State; Uyo Prisons, Akwa Ibom; Owerri Prisons, Imo State; Kuje Prisons, Abuja; Keffi Prison; Suleja Prison, Niger State and Nigerian Military Intelligence Detention Centre, Abuja.

She called on people whose relatives are missing to search for them in these secret internment camps.

IPOB said: “Ndigbo are the ethnic group most frequently arrested on accusations of either being members of IPOB or ESN or being framed as kidnappers by the notorious Nigerian Police, DSS and Army. Ndigbo have been profiled by the Nigerian government because of their ethnicity and have been hunted and detained in all illegal detention centres in Nigeria. Not only the innocent Igbo are detained in these illegal detention centres but innocent people of other ethnic groups are also detained in these gulags.

“The detention centers in Nigeria are places where you can search for your missing relative if he or she has not been tortured to death by the notorious Nigerian security agencies or slaughtered for the black market organs.

“To date, some of the IPOB members who were abducted by the Nigerian Army and Police during the 2016 inauguration of President Donald Trump in Port Harcourt (Igweocha), Rivers State remain missing. More than 8 years later, IPOB is still searching for the men and women who were abducted during the peaceful rally.”
