Alleged armed robbery at pharmacy in Melksham triggers investigation

On Wednesday 5 September, shortly after 9am, a man entered Gomples Pharmacy on Bank Street, Melksham, reportedly threatened staff and then stole a number of perfumes.

According to customers, the man was in the store at the time of the incident and was holding a knife while making threats.

The incident has now sparked a full police investigation and officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything.

“Fortunately no one was injured in this incident, but people who were in the store at the time were understandably shocked by this man's actions,” said Sergeant Gemma Rutter of Wiltshire Police.

“The investigation has been ongoing since the incident was reported and we are very keen to hear from anyone who has seen or heard anything suspicious.

“Gompels is located right in the centre of Melksham town and this incident occurred at a time of day when many people were taking their children to school or work.

“Please check your dashboard cameras or CCTV to assist us with our investigation.”
