By Rebecca Black, PA

A man was unharmed in a reported attempted arson attack on a first-floor apartment in Antrim.

Police said they received a report that the living room window of the apartment was damaged during the incident that night in the Kilgreel Road area.

A spokesman said: “Sometime between midnight and 7.10am it was reported that the external window pane of a living room window in a first floor flat had been damaged. It is not believed that the bottle caught fire during the incident and it has been taken away for further forensic examination.

“A man in his 30s was on the property but was not injured in the incident.”

The police are appealing for information and are asking anyone who can help to contact investigators on 101, quoting reference number 354 of 24 June 2009.
