Four people arrested for Class A drugs in a Powys pub

Dyfed Powys Police have confirmed that four people were arrested at the Wellington Inn, also known as The Welly, in Berriew Street on Saturday evening, August 31.

Police attended the pub as part of a major anti-drug operation in North Powys and arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to resell.

While the man was awarded compensation for his earnings out of court, Dyfed Powys Police confirmed that no further action will be taken against the woman.

That same evening, police also issued an out-of-court restraining order against another man in connection with the possession of Class A drugs and another man in connection with a court order.

A Dyfed Powys Police spokesman said: “On Saturday evening, August 31, police carried out an operation targeting anti-social behaviour, alcohol-related disorder, violent crime and drug use and dealing in North Powys.

“As part of their activities, they visited the Wellington in Welshpool, where four people were arrested.

“A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to resell. The man was dealt with out of court, while no further action will be taken against the woman.

“Two other men were issued with out-of-court restraining orders – one in connection with a court order and another in connection with drug possession.”
