Transport for London (TfL) has restricted its online services as its computer systems continue to be affected by a cyberattack.

The organisation said it had taken measures including restricting access to certain live travel information services through apps and its website, and blocking passengers from viewing journey history on journeys paid for with contactless cards.

TfL reiterated an earlier statement that there was “no indication” of any compromise to customer data and that there was currently “no impact” on transport services.

Insiders told BBC London that the transport service provider's backroom systems at the company's headquarters were particularly affected.

Measures “remain in place”

Restricted access live travel information services include train updates and TfL JamCams, which typically show live feeds of traffic on main roads.

TfL has also restricted access to the photocard portal, which customers can use to apply for travel concessions.

Earlier this week, the door-to-door minibus booking system “Dial a Ride” was also unavailable, although TfL said essential bookings could now be made by phone and that it hoped to resume full services “in the coming days”.

Shashi Verma, TfL's technical director, said: “We identified suspicious activity on Sunday and took action to restrict access.”

“A thorough investigation is currently underway and we are working closely with the National Crime Agency and the National Cyber Security Centre to respond to the incident.

“Internal access restriction measures remain in place and there continues to be no impact on our public transport and no indication that customer data has been compromised.

“We will continue to keep our customers and staff updated on the incident as part of this ongoing work and thank them for their patience while we respond to this incident.”
