Adam Copeland: A match with Will Ospreay would be so much fun

Adam Copeland is currently sidelined after suffering a leg injury at AEW Double or Nothing when he jumped off a cage and landed hard on his feet.

Copeland is in rehab and working on his return, but it is unknown when he will return to the ring.

When he puts his boots back on, there will be many firsts ahead of him, including the possibility of a one-on-one duel with Will Ospreay.

“Oh, definitely.” Copeland told ComicBook's Haley Miller when asked if he was excited to step into the ring against an opponent like Ospreay. “I mean, even though he wasn't in AEW at the time, it was talent like that that made the decision pretty easy. Yeah, that's… man. That kind of stuff makes my mouth water. First time in a match? To feel another person and possibly have a connection or not, that's really, really fascinating. That's definitely a match that I would enjoy so much just because the possibilities that there are with my mindset, my mentality and the way I approach things and the way he does it would be a lot of fun. And also as a person, he's a really, really good guy who has a huge passion for it. And when you have that, it makes it exciting because then you're like, 'Okay, you don't have to have all the passion because this guy does it too. All right, here we go.' That's usually the moment when magic can happen.

But this is definitely a generational thing that I think could be really interesting. For me, it's a great test, too. I'm 50 years old and I'm slowly winding this whole thing down. I still have to be able to keep up with these guys and produce to know how long I have to stick around. You never want to be a disadvantage. I wanted to go to AEW to help; I wanted to try to help behind the scenes. I wanted to try to help creatively. I wanted to try to help with training, be a sounding board, whatever it is. Whatever hat you want me to wear, I'll put it on. And if that means I get to be with a guy like Ospreay? Sure. I look at the roster and go through it… It's like, Ospreay? Never touched. [Kenny] Omega? Never touched. [Jon] Moxley? Never touched. Claudio [Castagnoli]? Never touched. PAC? Never touched. Young Bucks? Never touched. FTR, never. Samoa Joe, never. Swerve [Strickland]never. Hangman, never. What the hell? That's two years of games and stories. It's super exciting.”

Copeland said there is still some work to be done before a possible return.

Ospreay will defend his AEW International title against PAC at AEW All Out. Fans can view the lineup for the show here.
