UPDATE (9/6): The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man in connection with “disturbing” threats of violence toward the Monroe County School District, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

According to a press release, MCSO identified 26-year-old Chris Cooper as the suspect. Officers had been monitoring Cooper throughout the night.

On Friday, an arrest warrant was executed at his residence and Cooper was booked into the Monroe County Jail. Cooper is being held without bail.

Cooper is charged with disseminating information about terrorist acts and has a restraining order against him.

UPDATE (9/5) : Forsyth police said in a Press release On Thursday evening, the organization was alerted to “potential threats” against schools in Monroe County.

“We take incidents of this nature very seriously and will be increasing patrols around all schools beginning tomorrow morning,” the press release said. “If you have any information, please contact Forsyth Police at 478-993-1005.”

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating threatening comments made It is said that it could be a terrorist threat.

The sheriff's office said in a Facebook post Thursday evening that it was taking the comments seriously and would be stationing several units at all schools on Friday morning.
