Manchester United Academy star Shea Lacey set to return from injury after international break – Man United News and Transfer News

Manchester United have received great news as talented youngster Shea Lacey could return to action after the international break.

United's academy is currently full of talented stars and that player pool was further strengthened this summer with the signings of Chido Obi-Martin, Samuel Lusale and Sekou Kone.

However, one of the most hyped young players in Carrington's squad is Shea Lacey, described as “Liverpool's Lionel Messi”. He is a super-talented left-footed right winger who excels at dribbling in tight spaces.

The 17-year-old signed his first professional contract with the club in April and had a term of five years.

However, the young player suffered an injury at the end of April and had to sit out the rest of the season, meaning he has not yet played in the current season.

The Manchester Evening News reports that the academy has good news to look forward to as they have “learned that Lacey has been sidelined with a muscle injury but has made progress in his recovery and is in good shape to play after the break.”

Lacey could “play for the U18s against Newcastle on Saturday 14 September and it is expected that a cautious approach will be taken and he will be gradually eased back into action.”

United will be careful not to rush the player and inflict further injury problems on him, as he has already suffered a number of health issues in his short career.

Lacey is considered “one of the leading lights” of the academy and numerous video recordings of the player playing for the academy have gone viral.

The young winger played ten games for the U18s last season, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

He has also represented England at U15, U16 and U17 level.

The young player is so valued by the club that he has already trained with the first team and he hopes to continue to benefit from this experience and play regularly for the U21s in the current season.

He may even have the chance to move up to the first team later this season, as his academy colleagues Toby Collyer and Ethan Wheatley recently did.
