How serious is Jordan Love's injury? Doctors speculate about X

In a tense, last-minute situation in the Packers' season opener against the Eagles, with just six seconds left on the clock and the Green Bay Packers trailing 34-29, quarterback Jordan Love had only a small chance to pull off a miracle.

As Love scanned the field for a game-winning pass, the Eagles' Josh Sweat and Jalen Carter collapsed around him, causing the quarterback's leg to bend unnaturally.

There is no official statement on the nature of Love's injury, but based on footage from the game, medical experts on social media have offered their analysis. Dr. Evan Jeffries, DPT, explained that it could be an ankle sprain or even a broken lower leg.

Jeff Mueller, another physical therapist, suspected that Love may have suffered a medial collateral ligament or ankle sprain because the quarterback was visibly limping on the sideline.

Perhaps most disturbing was the analysis of Dr. Jesse Morse, who feared the worst – a torn ACL. In his tweet, he explained that Love's knee appeared to “slip” during the tackle – a sign of a possible ligament injury.

Like other doctors, Morse considered the possibility of a severe ankle sprain and blamed the field conditions, which he believed may have contributed to the injury.

It is also suspected that pitch conditions played a role in Love's injury, as many pointed out that the pitch in Sao Paulo was not up to standards.

When the surface is uneven, slippery or poorly maintained, players' boots get caught, causing ankle or knee injuries. Love's left leg buckled when the pressure on his body was at its highest.

The injury occurred as Sweat was charging ahead and chasing Love. Just as the Packers quarterback was about to take a devastating sack, he managed to pass the ball to running back Josh Jacobs.

Jacobs then shot out of bounds, stopping the clock and giving Green Bay another chance to win the Week 1 game.

While being tackled by Josh Sweat and Jalen Carter, Love fell awkwardly to the ground. According to reports, Carter's haste, which had wrapped around his legs, caused an unnatural bend in Love's ankle.

All eyes were on Love, who was lying on the ground in pain, clutching his leg. The trainers rushed to Love's side, but luckily with their help he was able to leave the field.

As the Green Bay Packers continue to test Love, who had a stellar 2023 season, the team's future is at stake.
