Man suffers head injury in attack on Southend Warrior Square

This morning, Saturday 7 September, at approximately 2:30am, officers were called to Warrior Square after receiving reports that a man had been assaulted and suffered a head injury.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and he was taken to hospital where he was later released. Fortunately, his injuries were neither life-changing nor life-threatening.

A cordon has been set up while police investigate on site; our investigations are ongoing.

Police believe the suspect was wearing a blue tracksuit.

Chief Superintendent Leighton Hammett said: “We know this incident occurred in the heart of Southend and it is likely that it was recorded by the doorbell cameras in the area.

“If you live in Warrior Square or the surrounding streets, we ask that you please check these cameras and get in touch.

“Our officers will be on site today conducting investigations and will also be conducting additional patrols this evening.

“We have also received reports of anti-social behaviour and damage to property in the same area in the hours prior to this incident. We know the impact this has on local residents and it will not be tolerated.”
