After the season opening game, the Texas football team's next top game outside of the conference is scheduled.

The Longhorns will visit Ann Arbor, where their task will be to dethrone reigning national champion Michigan.

The Wolverines went through a lot of changes in the offseason, losing 13 players and coach Jim Harbaugh (now with the Los Angeles Chargers) to the NFL. Their 30-10 win over Fresno State wasn't as convincing as voters would have liked, and Michigan dropped to No. 9 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Texas, on the other hand, moved up to No. 3 after its 52-0 win over Colorado State.

The matchup bears similarities to Texas' Week 2 game against Alabama in 2023. The Longhorns have a chance to do what they did last year – prove themselves as legitimate College Football Playoff contenders against a ranked team.

Michigan will likely start with two quarterbacks, with Davis Warren and Alex Orji both playing in Week 1. Warren is a senior who made most of the passing plays against Fresno State, while Orji threw two passes but was primarily dangerous in the running game. Texas' defensive line will be tested against a run-heavy Michigan offense, but the Wolverines' defense will also face a confident Quinn Ewers, who finished with 260 yards and three touchdowns against the Rams.
