Five dead, 28 rescued, rescue operations ongoing

In a tragic incident on Saturday evening, five people were killed when a building collapsed in the Transport Nagar area of ​​Lucknow, according to authorities. 28 others have been successfully rescued so far. Rescue efforts are ongoing as several people are still believed to be trapped under the rubble.

The collapse occurred in a densely populated area and required an immediate response from various rescue services. “NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade and police are actively involved in the rescue operations,” said Indrajit Singh, Lucknow Municipal Commissioner. The fire brigade, along with SDRF and NDRF teams, are working tirelessly to reach the people who are still trapped.

To speed up the rescue process, drones are being used to monitor the site and assist in evacuation efforts. “So far, there are reports of five deaths,” said Uttar Pradesh Home Minister Sanjeev Gupta.

Lucknow District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar confirmed that 28 people have been rescued and are receiving medical treatment. He visited the hospital where the injured are being treated and assured that the highest level of surveillance is in place to ensure proper care to the victims. “We are determined to provide the best possible treatment to the affected people,” Gangwar told ANI.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reacted promptly to the incident. He directed the authorities to speed up relief efforts and ensure that all the injured are immediately shifted to hospitals. Chief Minister Yogi is continuously monitoring the situation and coordinating efforts with various departments to maximize the effectiveness of rescue efforts.

Deputy Director General of Law and Order (ADG) Amitabh Yash highlighted the Chief Minister's proactive approach: “The CM is closely monitoring the situation and has mobilised senior officials to coordinate rescue efforts of all relevant departments, including medical services, fire services and municipal councils.”

Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow, expressed his condolences and concern over the incident. “The news of the building collapse is deeply saddening. I have spoken to the district magistrate and am aware of the relief efforts underway. The local administration is fully engaged in helping the victims,” ​​Singh posted on X.
