Man shot, suspect arrested after shootout in Cleveland's Clark-Fulton neighborhood, police say

CLEVELAND, Ohio — One man is dead and another man was arrested after an argument escalated into gun violence Friday afternoon, Cleveland police said.

The 52-year-old man has not been publicly identified in the incident, which occurred in the area of ​​West 44th Street and Hyde Avenue in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood, police said. Charges are pending against the 33-year-old male suspect.

Police received a call about a man who had been shot. When police arrived, they found the 52-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders arrived and took him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and the suspect were arguing. During the argument, the victim pulled out a gun and shot the suspect. The suspect, who was grazed by a bullet, pulled out a gun as the victim attempted to flee, but was fatally wounded, police said.

The suspect was treated at the hospital for a gunshot wound and arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.
