Sandeep Pathak hints at solo campaign in Haryana elections

Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: Amid ongoing discussions about an alliance with the Congress party in the Haryana assembly elections, Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak of the Aam Aadmi Party has been heating up the election campaign. When asked about the alliance, he said the party is fully ready to contest the Haryana elections alone. He said once the party leadership gives its consent, a statement will be made. “We are ready to fight every seat in the elections with all our might. Those who underestimate us will regret it in the future,” he said.

The Congress has already named 31 candidates for the Haryana elections. Sources told ABP News that talks on a Congress-AAP alliance may not bear fruit as the parties could not agree on a seat-sharing formula. The sources said that while the AAP is willing to reduce its seat demand, it is demanding more than what the Congress is willing to give up. A decision on the alliance is likely to be taken by Saturday evening.

Priyanka Kakkar, national spokesperson of AAP, said talks on the alliance with Congress in Haryana were still on. “It is too early to say anything now. Aam Aadmi Party is working non-stop in Haryana. We are fully prepared to contest elections on all 90 seats. Our organisation is strong on the ground. We will announce the candidates in 1-2 days. But we hope to come to a conclusion regarding the alliance.”

Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha had said that an alliance would definitely be formed in the national interest and in the interest of Haryana. However, he did not say anything about seat sharing. Reacting to the AAP-Congress alliance in Haryana, Raghav Chadha said, “Talks are on. We hope that an alliance will be formed soon in the interest of the country and Haryana. We are making all efforts in this direction.”

On the issue of delay in the alliance in Haryana, Raghav Chadha said, “The talks are on, no statement can be made on the issue here. There is still hope.”

The election for the 90 parliamentary seats in Haryana will be held on October 5. The election results will be announced on October 8. The Bharatiya Janata Party is currently in power in the state. The state's chief minister is Nayab Singh Saini.
