MP from Lumbini province jailed for forgery

Dhan Bahadur KC, member of the Lumbini provincial assembly, was sent to jail on Sunday.

A Nepali Congress member elected from Rukum East-1 (b), KC, was convicted in a document forgery case.

According to Madhav Kharel, police chief in Rukum East, the then fugitive provincial MP KC surrendered before the district court in Rukum East on Sunday. The court then sent him to jail to serve his sentence, Kharel said.

The Rukum District Court in its judgment dated 23 June 1991 sentenced KC to one year in prison and a fine of Rs 2,000 for forgery.

He was convicted after his wife Radha KC filed a complaint accusing him of submitting forged documents in divorce proceedings. There was public criticism that he had not been sentenced even years after the court's order.
