Expert tips for the NFL game of the week 1

The Tennessee Titans open the 2024 season and a new era for the franchise on Sunday at Soldier Field against the Chicago Bears.

Tennessee has a new coach, quarterback and a revamped roster compared to the first week of last season. Brian Callahan will make his debut as an NFL head coach on Sunday and Will Levis begins his first full season as the undisputed starting quarterback in Nashville.

Newcomers Calvin Ridley and L'Jarius Sneed will play important roles and the Titans' defense will rely on experienced stars Harold Landry and Jeffery Simmons, who come from the Mike Vrabel era.

Caleb Williams, selected No. 1 overall, will make his NFL debut for the Bears on Sunday.

Nick Suss, Titans sports reporter

Bears 28, Titans 24Welcome to the new era of Titans and Bears football. Two franchises known for their tough, old-school tactics are modernizing, and a higher score reflects that. So much hype about the Bears, but this is a rookie quarterback in his first NFL game against a defense that has had plenty of time to prepare.

Chicago's defense is a match for Tennessee's, and Montez Sweat could be the X-factor going up against Nicholas Petit-Frere. That, along with some unforeseen plays from Caleb Williams, will give the home team a narrow win.

Will Levis is the headliner at the beginning of the season, but Tony Pollard steals the show at the start and gives coach Brian Callahan his first win.
