After 2 years, Delhi Police recruitment exam cheating accused arrested from Haryana

Kota: The Kota city police have arrested one of the accused in connection with the alleged Delhi Police recruitment exam scam, who was on the run for the last two years, a police official said.

The accused was also wanted by the Kota police in another case related to document forgery.

Akhilesh Kumar Singh (32), a resident of Jamui district in Bihar and currently in Delhi's Rohini, was arrested from Jind district in Haryana on Saturday in connection with a forged document case, Kota City SP Amrita Duhan said. Akhilesh is one of the accused in the Delhi Police recruitment exam scam, she added.

Akhilesh rented the premises of Messrs Om Kothari Foundation in Kota to conduct an online examination there in 2020. The accused, along with a local man named Himanshu Rathore, allegedly forged the signature of an official of the institute to prepare the required property documents and got the premises allotted as an online examination centre for the Delhi Police recruitment examination, police said.

The scam was uncovered in 2022 and the Criminal Investigation Department of the Delhi Police reported a case.

During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the computers of some candidates at the examination centre in Kota were connected through the internet to members of the gang in Delhi, who solved the entire exam from there, the SP city said, adding that the Delhi Police had already arrested several people in connection with the alleged cheating.
