Threatening letter left in front of the EU Commissioner's residence

EU Commissioner Helena Dalli has expressed concern about police inaction following a threatening incident at her home last July.

Dalli confirmed in a Facebook post that a man left a jar of cannabis and a note reading “Next time I'll have something for your kids” on her doorstep on July 31.

“I immediately reported this threat to the police and attached the surveillance footage. The video shows a man approaching our house and his car is also visible,” Dalli explained.

Despite providing evidence, she expressed frustration at police inaction, saying: “I have not received any communication on this case since then. Last week I asked for an update on the status of the investigation and was told they don't have one yet.”

The incident was confirmed by Dalli after PN newspaper II-Mument published surveillance footage showing the suspect parking in front of Dalli's residence, leaving the item behind and taking a photo of it.

Dalli is in the final weeks of her five-year term as EU Commissioner.

Last week, her husband claimed that senior Labour Party officials were working to destroy his wife's credibility and prevent her from becoming President of Malta.
