MWL condemns murder of American-Turkish activist by Israeli forces

The Muslim World League (MWL) on Sunday strongly condemned the killing of the American-Turkish activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi and the child Bana Amjad Bakr by Israeli forces and extremist militias under the protection of the Israeli army south of Nablus.

“The killings are part of the ongoing barbaric and systematic violence in the Palestinian territories,” MWL Secretary General Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa said in a statement.

He condemned the “ongoing cruel crimes committed by the Israeli government against the civilian population, which continue to be committed and which constitute a direct violation of humanitarian and legal standards.”

Dr. Al-Issa stressed the urgent need for the international community to “address this terrible humanitarian crisis and stop the systematic attacks against innocent civilians in the Palestinian territories.”

Eygi was shot dead in the West Bank on Friday. She had been demonstrating against Israeli settlements there.

The White House expressed “deep concern” and called on Israel to investigate, while her family is demanding an independent investigation.
