Tyreek Hill stats today: Live updates, highlights on the Dolphins WR after police arrest before Week 1

Tyreek Hill had an eventful Sunday before he even took the field for the Dolphins.

Hill was briefly detained outside Hard Rock Stadium after he was “charged with reckless driving for his incident with police outside the stadium,” according to ESPN's Jeff Darlington. Hill reportedly got into a “verbal altercation with police” after being pulled over, at which point the officer handcuffed the veteran wide receiver.

News of the incident quickly spread on social media after a fan posted a video of the incident. ESPN's Adam Schefter later showed a closer look at the arrest, which showed Hill lying face down on the ground.

The Dolphins released a statement saying the incident occurred and that Hill would be eligible to play against the Jaguars.

“This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was stopped and briefly detained by police for a traffic accident approximately one block from the stadium,” the statement said. “He has since been released. Several teammates witnessed the incident and stopped to offer assistance. Tyreek and all other players involved arrived safely at the stadium and will be available for today's game.”

Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus, meanwhile, called the situation “unbelievable.” He also told NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe that Hill was in good mental health despite the incident.

NFL fans compared Hill's detention to the arrest of PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler, who was arrested for a minor traffic violation before the second round of the PGA Championship.

Scheffler managed an impressive 4-under-par finish despite having a mugshot taken of him just hours before his round. Dolphins fans – and fantasy football owners – are hoping Hill can put together a similarly strong performance despite the circumstances.
