Stephen A. Smith is angry about the treatment of Tyreek Hill in the arrest video

The first Sunday of the NFL season began in shock, as Miami Dolphins superstar Tyreek Hill was handcuffed by police on his way to Hard Rock Stadium. Eventually, news came out that Hill had been arrested for a traffic violation, and ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported that he had been handcuffed after a verbal altercation with a police officer. Hill was eventually released and made it to the stadium; he still plans to play in the Dolphins' Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Numerous videos of Hill's arrest circulated online and Stephen A. Smith was furious about the footage. The ESPN anchor compared the situation to that of Scottie Scheffler and asked why Hill was treated differently than the golfer.

“See for yourself,” Smith tweeted of a video sent by fellow reporter Adam Schefter. “This is bullshit. Completely unnecessary. And by the way… I know the Scottie Scheffler incident happened in Georgia – not Florida – and that he was arrested, detained and charged. I also know we don't know all the details, blah… blah… blah! But he wasn't put face down on the ground in handcuffs? Then he was forcibly put back down by cops a second time. No! This story is not going to go away – and it doesn't have to.”

Earlier this year, Scheffler was arrested on his way to the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer with his vehicle and three other misdemeanors. The charges were eventually dropped.

Smith is definitely right about one thing: This story isn't going away anytime soon. And it certainly won't be the last time Hill's situation is compared to Scheffler's.
