Four people injured in crash in Nordstadt

Four people were injured in a serious traffic accident in the northern part of Dortmund. Had one of the drivers consumed alcohol beforehand?

Four people were injured in a traffic accident on Sunday night (September 8) in the northern city center of Dortmund. One driver was apparently under the influence of alcohol.

According to initial witnesses, a 20-year-old man from Dortmund was driving his Audi west on Mallinckrodtstrasse at around 3:10 a.m., police reported. At the same time, a 28-year-old man from Bochum was driving his VW north on Uhlandstrasse, presumably at excessive speed. Both cars collided and crashed in the area of the intersection.

According to police, the 28-year-old was seriously injured in the accident. The man from Dortmund and his two passengers, aged 21 and 22, only suffered minor injuries. Several ambulances took all those involved to nearby hospitals.

As the accident report and initial treatment showed evidence of alcohol consumption, a doctor took a blood sample from him in the hospital, the police said. The officers also confiscated the man's driver's license and his mobile phone.

The police subsequently announced in a report on the incident that they are initiating criminal proceedings for, among other things, endangering road traffic while under the influence of alcohol.
