Numerous girls recite Ganpati Atharvashirsha in Pune

Pune (Maharashtra) [India]September 9 (ANI): While devotees visit pandals across the country to pray to Lord Ganesha and seek his blessings during the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi festival, a special event in Pune has caught everyone's attention this year.

Up to 2,100 girls gathered to recite Ganpati Atharvashirsha, a holy prayer in honour of Lord Ganesha, at the famous Srimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganesh Mandal in Pune.

A video of the event posted online shows girls sitting in a large circle and saying the prayer together.

This morning, a large crowd of devotees was seen at Bhausaheb Rangari Ganesh Mandal.

People queued for hours to pray and catch a glimpse of Bappa. The atmosphere was filled with chants and prayers as devotees sought the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

Ganesh Chaturthi, a ten-day festival that begins on the fourth day of the Hindu lunisolar month of Bhadrapada, began on Saturday, September 7.

This festival, also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi, honors Lord Ganesha, the “God of new beginnings” and “remover of obstacles,” and celebrates his wisdom and intelligence.

The festival is marked by great devotion and enthusiasm throughout Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Houses and public pandals are adorned with elaborate decorations and the air is filled with prayers, music and festive songs. The streets come alive with lively processions and traditional rituals as people prepare delicious offerings and visit the beautifully decorated pandals.

As Ganesh Chaturthi takes place, the joy and excitement of the festival is palpable. The festive mood is evident in the bustling crowds, colourful decorations and the aromatic scent of festive sweets. (ANI)
