Attempted murder at Leipzig bus stop: 45-year-old in mortal danger!

Leipzig- Shocking scenes have already taken place in early August in Leipzig Westen happened: At a tram stop, an argument apparently escalated to such an extent that a woman (45) was critically injured. The police are now urgently looking for witnesses.

The argument between the woman and a 59-year-old Russian occurred on August 4, a Sunday, at around 6:50 p.m. at the Antonienstraße/Gießerstraße stop in the direction out of town.

“The initially verbal conflict culminated in the man hitting the woman with an object, causing her to fall to the ground with life-threatening injuries,” the Leipzig police and public prosecutor's office said in a joint statement on Monday morning.

The man is said to have then fled in a black Mercedes with Leipzig license plates on Gießerstrasse in the direction of the toom hardware store.

Passers-by found the seriously injured 45-year-old and alerted the police and emergency services, who took the woman to a hospital.

The 59-year-old is now in custody, as police spokeswoman Sandra Freitag told TAG24. He is being investigated for attempted murder.

Nevertheless, witnesses are urgently sought, including those who had already contacted the police at the crime scene. The officers are primarily concerned with the following questions in their investigations:

  • Who witnessed the crime and can provide information about what happened?
  • At the time of the crime, who was sitting in the tram line 1 heading towards Lausen, which stopped directly at the Antonienstraße/Gießerstraße stop?
  • Who took photos or videos of the events and can make them available?
