Two injured after car crash in Quarry Bank High Street

The incident, which resulted in the High Street being closed in both directions, occurred shortly before 12:30am at the junction of High Street and Sheffield Street.

Two people were reportedly injured – a 46-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman.

The police have launched an investigation and arrested a woman.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said of the incident: “We were called to reports of a car colliding with a lorry and crashing into a building on High Street, Brierley Hill at 12.21am.

“Two ambulances, a paramedic and a MERIT trauma doctor with an intensive care paramedic were on scene. Upon arrival we found two patients, a man and a woman.

“Both were treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Russell's Hall Hospital.”

West Midlands Police were also at the scene and a police spokesman said: “We were called to Sheffield Street at the junction with High Street at approximately 12.18am this morning (September 9) after a car crashed into another vehicle and a wall.

“A 46-year-old man was taken to hospital in serious condition.

“A 52-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and remains in police custody.

“The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact us via the live chat on our website quoting log 48 of September 9.”

The High Street (A4100) remains closed in both directions and bus routes 14A, 24 and X10 are diverted, according to traffic reports published by INRIX, while crash investigation works take place between Park Road and Sheffield Street.

Meanwhile, a post on Oh My Tan's Facebook page said the salon was closed today due to the crash.
