ISLAMABAD, Sep 9 (APP): The investigators of Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) of Shams Colony police station on Monday successfully solved the murder case of a shopkeeper by arresting three bandits.

A shopkeeper was killed by assailants during a robbery in PS Shams Colony area.

Islamabad Inspector General (IG) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi took swift action following the incident, according to an ICT police spokesperson.

Under the leadership of IG Rizvi, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Syed Ali Raza has entrusted the HIU team with the task of prosecuting the case, he said.

He said the HIU had arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a shopkeeper during a robbery in Shams Colony.

He said the suspects were arrested as part of a major operation against criminal activities in the area.

The arrested men are accused of killing the shop owner who resisted their robbery attempt, he said.

He said the HIU had recovered from the suspects two motorcycles used in the incident, three pistols and stolen items, including cash and important documents.

Further investigations revealed that the defendants were involved in numerous other armed robberies targeting both passers-by and shop owners, he added.

He said the suspects were known to use firearms and open fire on victims who resisted arrest.

He said several cases had been registered against the suspects at the Shams Colony police station.

DIG Islamabad praised the police team for its efforts and said, “All legal measures are being taken to ensure that the accused are brought to justice,” he added.

DIG Syed Ali Raza stressed that large-scale operations were being carried out against organised and dynamic criminal gangs to maintain law and order in the city.
