Police search for suspect who broke into donation boxes at USJ 4 mosque

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are searching for a person suspected of breaking into two donation boxes at Masjid An-Nur in USJ 4, Subang Jaya, causing an estimated damage of RM3,000.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said in a statement that the incident was recorded by the mosque's closed circuit television (CCTV) system at 11.40am on Sunday (September 8).

He said the male suspect, wearing a blue shirt and brown pants and carrying a bag containing food supplies, was seen breaking open two donation boxes in the mosque's foyer and stealing money intended for the mosque's expansion and supplies.

The secretary of the mosque discovered the incident at 9.30 p.m. the same day and reported it to the police.

“The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code (Act 574) and the police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the Subang Jaya District Control Centre on 03-78627222,” he said. – Bernama
