Woman arrested for selling marijuana in turmeric packets

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]September 9 (ANI): The Telangana Excise Enforcement Team on Monday arrested a woman for allegedly selling marijuana in turmeric packets and seized ten packets of the narcotic drug in the state capital.

In Doolpet, Hyderabad, customs officials uncovered the sale of marijuana in packets of turmeric powder.

The accused, named Neha Bai, was arrested by Customs officials for hiding ten packets of ganja in turmeric packets.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tirupati Yadav, Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Nagaraj and his staff seized ten packets of ganja hidden in turmeric packets and filed a case which led to their arrest.

Director of Enforcement VB Kamalasan Reddy thanked the enforcement team for unearthing the incident of ganja being sold in turmeric packets. “Meanwhile, in a similar incident in the national capital, the Delhi Crime Branch seized more than a quintal of marijuana and nabbed two members of an inter-state drug peddling gang near Narela on Monday.

The Criminal Investigation Department responded to information about the supply of narcotics in the greater Delhi-NCR area.

On further investigation of the matter through field sources and technical analysis, it was found that the narcotics were transported from Odisha to the state capital in a hidden cavity of a truck.

Accordingly, the CID also monitored the phone of the suspected gang member and laid a trap after learning that the consignment would be delivered in the Narela area.

When the two members were questioned, it was revealed that both were residents of Sonipat, Haryana and were identified as Sahab Singh and Pradeep Kumar.

Accordingly, a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered with the Criminal Investigation Department. Further investigation is underway. (ANI)
