AirPods 4 and AirPods Max 2: A big and a small update

Apple has updated two of its AirPods models. Fans can look forward to a new design, more features and new colors, among other things. However, one feature is only available for an additional charge.

Apple is redesigning its popular AirPods in-ear headphones. The fourth generation is said to offer the Cupertino manufacturer the “most comfortable design yet”. Apple's H2 chip is said to provide better sound.

Apple has also given the in-ears some features that were previously only available on the Pro models. In addition to the optional Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), there is also a speaker integrated into the case. This can make a sound if you misplace the headphones.

AirPods 4 get Pro features

After four years, Apple has also given its AirPods Max over-ear headphones an update. However, the innovations are limited: In addition to new color variants (including black, blue, purple and orange), the headphones can now also be charged via a USB C port.

Apple also announced that the AirPods Pro 2 will soon be able to be used as a hearing aid – but Apple is still waiting for the relevant certification from US authorities. It may still be some time before the feature is available in Europe.

Price and availability

The AirPods 4 and the AirPods Max 2 will be available in stores from September 20th. Pre-orders are possible from September 13th. Apple is charging $129 for the AirPods 4, and for an additional $50 you can get the in-ears with ANC. The AirPods Max will cost $549 like their predecessor. German prices have not yet been determined. We will send them to you as soon as possible.
