Athan Kaliakmanis starts with 2-0 at Rutgers

Week 2 of the college football season is over and many former Gophers were in action across the country. Which players who left stood out?

Rutgers had another favorable matchup against Akron. Kaliakmanis finished the day 14 of 23 (60.8%) passing for 230 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He had 14 passing touchdowns last season with Minnesota; he already has six with the Scarlet Knights.

Former Gophers RB coach Kenni Burns continues to struggle in his second year as head coach at Kent State. The Golden Flashes lost 23-17 at home to St. Francis (PA). Thomas struggled to get going out of the backfield, managing just 11 carries for 39 yards and four catches for 26 yards.

Missouri State and Clark started the 2024 season 0-2. The former Gophers QB completed 23 of 39 passes for 257 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception in a hard-fought five-point road loss to Montana.

Making his season debut after missing Week 1 due to injury, Dixon played 31 snaps in Week 2. He finished with a Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade of 65.6 and three total tackles.

USF and Brown-Stephens were in the spotlight in prime time against No. 4-ranked Alabama. He played 65 snaps but managed just two catches for 21 yards and earned a PFF grade of 57.6.

Carter was once a potential NFL draft prospect with the Gophers, but now at his third school, he's struggled to get on the field at Auburn, playing just nine snaps and earning a PFF grade of 60.5 in the Tigers' surprise home loss to Cal.
