Moorhead man charged with assault and damaging two police vehicles during drunken arrest – InForum

HORACE, ND — A man was arrested following a traffic stop in Cass County over the weekend and faces multiple serious crimes.

A Cass County trooper stopped a vehicle in Horace shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, and arrested Dalton J. Beyer, 34, of Moorhead, on suspicion of drunken driving, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

After being placed in a patrol car, Beyer violently kicked a window of the vehicle, causing approximately $5,100 in damage. The patrol car had only been in use for a week, the press release said.

Beyer was taken to a Cass County transport truck, where he allegedly broke a window, causing approximately $2,500 in damage.

During the incident, Beyer allegedly assaulted Cass County officers, which earned him additional felony charges.

No one was seriously injured in the attack, the press release said.

Beyer faces several serious crimes, including simple assault on a police officer, conspiracy to flee and hinder apprehension and a minor charge of drunken driving, the sheriff's office said.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office said it would seek compensation for damages to the vehicles.
