Vikas Sethi funeral: Actor's mother breaks down during last rites; wife shares emotional post on Instagram

Vikas Sethi's final rites were performed in Mumbai on Monday according to Hindu tradition. His wife also published her first post since his death.

Actor Vikas Sethi, known from television serials such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga and Sasural Simar Ka, died in his sleep on Saturday night in Nashik due to cardiac arrest. He was 48 years old. Vikas' funeral was held in Mumbai on Monday and was attended by several celebrities and his family members. Funeral of Vikas Sethi in Mumbai

A paparazzo shared a video on Instagram in which Surekha Sethi, the actor's mother, breaks down at the sight of her son's mortal remains. Actors like Hiten Tejwani and Sharad Kelkar also paid their last respects to Vikas. Actors Jaswir Kaur and Deepak Tijori were also spotted at Vikas' funeral.

Vikas' wife makes a statement

Vikas leaves behind his wife and their twin sons. “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the demise of our beloved Vikas Sethi, who left us all on September 8, 2024. The final ceremony will be performed on September 9 as per Hindu tradition. Your presence, prayers and support during this difficult time would be deeply appreciated,” Vikas' wife Jhanvi Sethi said in a statement released on her official Instagram account on Monday.

Jhanvi Sethi remembers Vikas' final moments

According to Jhanvi, she and Vikas were in Nashik to attend a family function. “When we reached my mother's house in Nashik, he was vomiting and had diarrhoea. He did not want to go to the hospital, so we asked the doctor to come home… when I tried to wake him up at around 6 am (on Sunday), he was no longer there. The doctor there told us that he died of cardiac arrest in his sleep last night,” she told PTI.

Apart from being a familiar face on television, Vikas was also part of the 2001 Karan Johar film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… where he played Robbie, a friend of Poo (Kareena Kapoor). Vikas also participated in the third season of the dance reality show Nach Baliye with his then wife Amita. He married Jhanvi in ​​2018.
