Victim’s mother claims Mamata Banerjee is ‘lying’

(MENAFN- Live Mint) The mother of the deceased trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of dishonesty regarding financial compensation.

On Monday, she refuted the Chief Minister's denial and claimed that Banerjee had indeed offered financial help to her daughter after her death.

What did the victim's mother say?

“The chief minister is lying. My daughter will not return. Should I lie on her behalf? The chief minister told us we would get money and suggested creating something in the memory of our daughter. I replied that I would come to her office to collect the money once my daughter gets justice,” the victim's mother told ANI.

Earlier, Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee denied offering money to the family of the deceased doctor-in-training who was raped and murdered in Calcutta.

“I never offered any money to the family of the deceased doctor. This is nothing but defamation. I only told the parents of the deceased doctor that if they wanted to do something in the memory of their daughter, our government would support them. Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal offered his resignation after the RG Kar protests, but we need someone who knows law and order as Durga Puja is approaching,” she said.

The victim's cousin also said that the prime minister had personally offered financial compensation to the family. “The prime minister herself offered financial compensation. She denied that the police offered money. I say with full conviction that the prime minister offered money,” the cousin said.
