NEW DELHI: The Deputy Commissioner of Police of Nagpur (DCP) Rahul Madane said on Tuesday that Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule's son Sanket Bawankule was summoned for questioning and has admitted that he was present in the car when the luxury sedan allegedly rammed several vehicles in Ramdaspeth area of ​​Nagpur.
“The incident occurred on September 9 at 0.30 a.m. A white Audiregistered in the name of Sanket Bawankule, was involved in the incident. We have questioned all the three occupants of the car. We arrested the driver Arjun but he was later released on bail as it was a bailable offence… Their medical samples have been sent to FSL, the report is awaited,” DCP Zone 2 Rahul Madane said at a press conference.
“When we examined the vehicle, the number plate was still in it. There were three persons in the car – Arjun Hawre, Sanket Bawankule and Ronit Chittamwar. They (the injured) were normal, their medical examination was done and nothing serious was found. Sanket Bawankule was summoned for questioning and he has confessed that he was in the car,” he added.
The pictures of the Audi show the force of the accident after it collided with two other cars and a two-wheeler in Nagpur yesterday evening.
“The car that caused the accident is registered in the name of Sanket Bawankule, the son of BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule,” police said.
Earlier, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule had said on Tuesday that appropriate action should be taken against the perpetrators following the accident involving a luxury car belonging to the son of Maharashtra BJP president.
The Sitabuldi Police registered a case of reckless driving against Arjun Haware, the driver of the car, and Ronit Chintanwar, who was sitting next to him.

The driver, Arjun Hawre, was arrested for reckless driving but was later released on bail. Her medical samples have been sent for analysis and the report is awaited.
In a post on X, the Congress of Maharashtra published the alleged video of the incident and claimed that after the incident, the entire Interior Ministry went to work to rescue and hide the boy.
“In Nagpur, the son of a senior BJP politician hit four to five cars in a drunken state in the middle of the night, after which the entire Home Ministry rushed to rescue and hide the boy. So is law and order only there to torment the common people?” the Maharashtra Congress Party posted on X with an alleged video of the incident.
