Jennifer Lopez 'enjoyed' time with boyfriend Matt Damon at TIFF (Exclusive Source)

Jennifer Lopez and Matt Damon remain good friends despite their divorce from Ben Affleck.

After posing together for group photos in the Unstoppable Premiere on Friday, September 6, at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), a source told PEOPLE that the singer is “very close with Matt [Damon]” and “enjoyed the time” with him.

The two friends were spotted at a Unstoppable At the after-party following the film's premiere, a “deep conversation” took place, a source previously told PEOPLE.

Lopez and Damon, 53, chatted for over 20 minutes at the after-party, which was held at EPOCH Bar & Kitchen Terrace at the Ritz-Carlton.

The insider told PEOPLE that Lopez was sitting at a table outside with the actor's wife, Luciana Damon, and his co-star Don Cheadle when Damon approached them.

“Jen and Matt started talking and had a long, deep conversation,” the source previously said, noting that the two friends laughed and spoke more seriously, holding hands for several minutes as they spoke.

Affleck, co-producer of Unstoppablewas conspicuously missing. The film was produced by Affleck and Damon's production company Artists Equity.

The new drama tells the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and eventually won the NCAA championship in 2011. Lopez plays Robles' mother, Judy Robles, in the film. As the credits rolled at TIFF, she received a standing ovation from the audience.

During the post-screening Q&A session on stage, Lopez stressed the importance of doing justice to history.

“I think it was really my job to make her feel safe,” she said. “For both of them, Anthony and Judy, to feel safe and to kind of put this in our hands and trust us with all the information they could give us and know that we would not abuse it in any way, but would only use it to tell their story in the best and most beautiful way that it deserves. Because I think it's one of the most beautiful and inspiring stories I've ever seen on screen.”

The premiere was Lopez's first major public appearance since filing for divorce from Affleck, 52, on Aug. 20 after two years of marriage. The same day as the event, Affleck was seen in Los Angeles wearing a navy blue suit and sunglasses.

Sources had already told PEOPLE last month that Affleck would not attend the TIFF premiere, but Lopez and Damon intended to be there.
