Viral video shows man smashing window pane of Vande Bharat train with hammer as sabotage incidents rise

Amid the increasing number of sabotage incidents on passenger trains in many parts of the country, a video showing a man breaking the window pane of a Vande Bharat train with a hammer has gone viral on social media. However, it is not yet clear where and when the incident took place.

X-user @GanKanchi, who posted the video on the microblogging site, wrote, “Mysterious man smashes Vande Bharat train with hammer. Does anyone know where this happened and what was the incident?”

As the video spread on the Internet, netizens demanded strict action against the accused.

One X-user @Ayushman2251187 wrote in a post: “Arrest him.”

@crazyy4x said: “Should be arrested immediately.”

“He should be tied to the same train,” wrote @ShineHamesha.

One user @s007mukherjee1 even went so far as to say, “Death penalty required.”

“Should be arrested ASAP! What the hell is going on,” wrote @RiddhimaVarsh17.

@uma_shiva32 wrote: “How sick. He will be given a very severe punishment.”

User X claims the train was under repair

While netizens called for the perpetrator to be arrested, an X-user @mystyx_7 claimed that the train seen in the video was not at the platform but at a rest stop, saying that the man broke the glass “because it needed to be replaced.”

“The train is in the Coach Care Centre, not on the platform. He is breaking the window because it needs replacing. He is just the worker for the contractor who has been hired to replace the glass.”

The video is going viral at a time when numerous incidents of train sabotage are being reported across the country.

An attempt was made to derail a loaded freight train in Rajasthan's Ajmer district on Tuesday by placing two concrete blocks on the tracks of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, railway officials said on Tuesday.

They said the goods train ran into the blockades between Saradhna and Bangad railway stations on Sunday evening, but nothing unusual happened.

“Some miscreants placed two concrete blocks on the tracks of the special freight corridor on Sunday. A goods train ran into them,” a North Western Railway official said, adding that the incident took place on the Phulera-Ahmedabad section of the corridor.

On Monday, an attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express from Bhiwani to Prayagraj in Kanpur by placing an LPG cylinder, a petrol cylinder and matchboxes on the tracks. Earlier, an attempt was made to derail the Vande Bharat Express from Ahmedabad to Jodhpur in Pali district of Rajasthan.

Commenting on the Ajmer incident, a Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) official said a case had been registered and the matter was being investigated.

“The incident took place on Sunday evening. The train conductor informed the control room and a team of officials along with RPF personnel reached the spot and found the blockages. Train movement was not affected. Local police have registered the incident and the matter is being investigated,” said Chitresh Joshi, deputy director general (security), DFCC. He said this was the first such incident on the Western Corridor.
