BREAKING NEWS: Man charged with fatal assault of Limerick woman

Gardai have arrested and charged a man as part of their investigation into the fatal attack on a woman in a residential building in Rathkeale two years ago.

The man, in his fifties, is due to appear before Limerick District Court this Tuesday morning.

Garida in Limerick began investigations after a woman was discovered with serious injuries in a residential building in Rathkeale on Tuesday 19 July 2022.

Louise Muckell, in her mid-50s, was found at a property in Cois Deel, Rathkeale, at around 8.30pm that evening.

She was admitted to University Hospital Limerick where she died on Wednesday 20 July.

The crime scene at Cois Deel, Rathkeale, was secured and a technical examination was carried out.

The results of an autopsy by Dr Margaret Bolster, State Pathologist, determined the course of the Garda investigation.

Ms Muckell was considered a “talented” music teacher who taught at the former Sisters of Mercy secondary school in Rathkeale and trained under the late Irish soprano Veronica Dunne.
