A flash flood warning has been issued for the region

Flash flood warning issued for Monroe and Wayne counties

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a flash flood warning for northeast Monroe County and western Wayne County.

According to the weather service, a Doppler radar detected thunderstorms with heavy rainfall in the region. Between 2.5 and 5 cm of rain have already fallen, and another 2.5 to 5 cm is possible. Flash flooding is already occurring or is expected to begin soon.

According to the weather service, places likely to be affected by flash flooding include Rochester, Irondequoit, Webster, Ontario, Charlotte, Union Hill, Braddock Bay and West Walworth.

Residents are advised to remain alert and avoid traveling through flooded areas.
