Adrian Newey joins Aston Martin as Silverstone team wins race to sign F1 design guru

He will start on March 1, 2025, in time to influence the 2026 car, which will be built to extensive new regulations, including a new powertrain formula.

The 65-year-old will have access to a brand new factory with a new wind tunnel and in-loop simulator and will face the challenge of integrating a new factory supplier for powertrains, Honda.

EXCLUSIVE: Newey on the RB17 hypercar, his ‘incredible ride’ at Red Bull and what’s next

“I am thrilled to be joining the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One team,” said Newey. “I am very inspired and impressed by the passion and commitment that Lawrence brings to everything he is involved in. Lawrence is determined to build a world-beating team. He is the only team majority owner who is actively involved in the sport.”

“His commitment is evident in the development of the new AMR Technology Campus and wind tunnel at Silverstone, which are not only state-of-the-art but also have a layout that creates a great working environment.

“Together with great partners like Honda and Aramco, they have all the key infrastructure elements required to make Aston Martin a World Championship team and I am very excited to help achieve that goal.”
