The father of a Marine killed during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was surprised by the extent of the Biden administration's failures after a scathing Republican report was released in the House of Representatives on Sunday.

The 350-page report details many failures in the 2021 military withdrawal from Afghanistan, including the lack of a plan to evacuate Americans and their allies.

“To be honest, most of the report is nothing new. We were present at the congressional hearings. We did all the research we could on the various congressional hearings over the last year and a half,” Steve Nikoui, the father of Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, told America Reports on Monday.

Kareem was one of 13 American soldiers killed on August 26, 2021, after a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device outside Kabul airport during a major evacuation operation.

White House rejects damning report on Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal

Nikoui noted that one surprise he found in the report was the Afghan government's efforts to reach out and gain support against the Taliban takeover. Nikoui noted that the Biden administration likely “never had any intention” of supporting the Afghan government during the withdrawal.

“The good thing about this report, however, is that it has finally been published. There are no more doubts. There is no more 'this is a conspiracy' or anything like that. It has been published in chronological order and everyone can see the mistakes that led to this botched withdrawal,” Nikoui said.

Moderator Sandra Smith asked if the report might come up in ABC News' upcoming presidential debate, to which Nikoui replied, “Absolutely.”

“The report was very thorough and covered many different elements that the American people need to know. The thing is, the administration lied. If it wasn't Kamala Harris, it was Jen Psaki. If it wasn't her, [Karine] Jean-Pierre, the one who represents the White House and its lies. The manipulations are finally coming to light and being exposed for what they are,” he said.

Nikoui also pushed back against Democrats' attacks on former President Trump for his participation in a wreath-laying ceremony with Gold Star families at Arlington National Cemetery last month.

“The only people who have any parades, political parades, are the Democrats, and they have been lying from the beginning,” Nikoui said. “To go back to what happened in Arlington: There is a day we are waiting for to finally get some recognition from our government. A former president comes to honor our children and lay a wreath at the [Tomb of the Unknown Soldier] and they use that to exert political influence. They tried to water down the real day.”

He concluded: “The withdrawal from Afghanistan is all known now. It's all in the report, so I don't know how they can try to twist it in any way. They really have no influence on it now.”

The State Department insisted on the withdrawal from Afghanistan and attacked the report as biased.

The Republicans have “made partisan statements, cherry-picked the facts, withheld statements from the American people and obscured the truth behind assumptions,” a US State Department spokesman said in a statement.
