All eyes were on Ryan Seacrest as he hosted his first episode of “Wheel of Fortune” on Monday night.

It was the first time in more than 40 years that the show was hosted by someone other than Pat Sajak, who announced his retirement in June 2023. “Wheel” fans could instead welcome Seacrest, who was chosen to usher in a new “Wheel of Fortune” era.

The 49-year-old entertainment veteran “couldn't wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White,” USA TODAY reported, but he acknowledged then and recently that he had “big shoes to fill” after Sajak's departure.

According to USA TODAY, he walked onto the stage arm-in-arm with co-host Vanna White and, after brief pleasantries, took his new place behind the wheel.

“I still can't believe my good fortune to be here with you tonight and to carry on the legacy of this incredible show,” Seacrest told the audience. “I know how special it is that 'Wheel' has been in your living rooms for 40 years, and I'm so grateful to have been invited. I also know that I have big shoes to fill.”

Fortunately, Seacrest's debut as host of “Wheel of Fortune” went smoothly as he focused all his energy on the contestants who were busy spinning the wheel and solving word puzzles, USA TODAY reported.

“Wheel” fans were pleasantly surprised by Seacrest’s performance and shared their thoughts and opinions on social media after the show’s premiere.
