When is Election Day 2024? Important dates for voting, early voting, more

On Tuesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will meet onstage at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia to face off in their first presidential debate.

The debate, moderated by ABC News' David Muir and Linsey Davis, will be the first meeting between Harris and Trump as candidates.

With the election less than 60 days away, here are some important dates to keep an eye on from now through November 5th.

When will the vice presidential debate take place?

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance, the two selected running mates for Harris and Trump respectively, will meet on October 1 for the only scheduled debate between the two vice presidential candidates so far.

The debate is hosted by CBS News and moderated by moderator and editor-in-chief Norah O'Donnell and CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan.

When is election day 2024?

Election day 2024 will be on November 5th.

When is the deadline for military personnel and overseas voters?

Those who will be the first to vote include military personnel and voters from overseas, whose ballots must be mailed no later than 45 days before the election, i.e. by September 21.

Advance dates for personal voting in 2024

In many states, early voting in person is also possible.

The earliest counties include Pennsylvania, where early voting begins in some counties on September 16, Minnesota and Virginia, where early voting begins on September 20, and Illinois, where early in-person voting begins on September 26. In California and Nebraska, early voting begins on October 7, and in Wyoming, polls open on October 8.

Alabama, Mississippi and New Hampshire are the only states where early in-person voting is not possible, other than by mail.
