Harris campaign hires Thorndike as director of climate engagement

Kamala Harris' presidential campaign has hired Camila Thorndike as “director of climate engagement,” according to her LinkedIn profile and a source familiar with the move.

Thorndike comes to the campaign from Rewiring America, where she served as senior director of public engagement, according to the source, who was granted anonymity to discuss a hire that has not yet been formally announced.

Previously, she served as a parliamentary assistant to progressive climate activist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), where she worked on elements of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, the Democrats' signature climate bill.

“Camila is extraordinary. She is very committed to climate action and is well-known and loved throughout the climate movement. She is a very successful activist who can make things happen,” Leah Stokes, senior policy adviser at Rewiring America, told POLITICO.
