Linda Ronstadt criticizes “toxic” Trump before his arrival in her hometown

The Grammy winner criticized the former president before his campaign visit to the Music Hall named after her

As Donald Trump prepares to return to Arizona for a campaign rally at Linda Ronstadt Music Hall on Thursday, the legendary singer herself criticized the former president for “his toxic policies, his hatred of women, immigrants and people of color, his criminality, dishonesty and ignorance.”

Ronstadt lamented on social media on Wednesday about Trump's upcoming rally in her hometown of Tucson, the city that gives her her name. “I would rather ignore this sad fact. But since my name is on the building, I have to say something,” she wrote. “It saddens me that the former president is bringing his hate show to Tucson, a city with deep Mexican-American roots and a cheerful, tolerant spirit.”

The singer accused the Trump administration of “systematically tearing apart families of migrants seeking asylum across the US southern border,” adding: “The grief he has caused cannot be forgiven or forgotten.”

“Trump warned about rapists from Mexico during his first presidential campaign,” she continued. “I'm worried about how to keep the rapist out of the White House.”

Ronstadt also announced that she would “proudly” vote for Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, while mocking Trump's vice presidential nominee JD Vance's infamous “childless cat ladies” remarks.

“PS to JD Vance,” the singer wrote alongside a photo of her cat. “I raised two adopted children in Tucson as a single mother. They are both grown and live in their own homes. I live with a cat. Am I a semi-childless cat lady because I am unmarried and have not given birth to my children? Call me what you want but this cat lady will proudly vote for @kamalaharris and @timwalz in November.”

Ronstadt reiterated Taylor Swift's support for Harris and Walz following Tuesday's presidential debate, which clearly scathingly annihilated Trump. Swift praised the vice president as a “calm, gifted leader,” adding, “We can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos.” The pop star signed her post, “Taylor Swift” and “Childless cat lady.”
