Lauren Sánchez takes a trip to Barnes & Noble as a mother and son to find her new book

Lauren Sánchez's son Nikko Gonzalez is perhaps her biggest fan.

On Wednesday, September 11, the former television host and now author proudly posted a loving snapshot of Gonzalez, who she shares with her ex Tony Gonzalez, holding up her new children's book. The fly that flew into space.

In the photo, 23-year-old Gonzalez can be seen riding down an escalator, smiling proudly as he holds up the book.

“Look who bought a book!!!!!” Sánchez wrote above the photo.

On her Instagram feed, Sánchez, 54, shared a funny video of herself, Gonzalez and a few others excitedly walking to a Barnes & Noble bookstore.

“I'm so excited, is this real?” the philanthropist said, smiling as she rode up an escalator and hastily turned a corner. She reached the children's section, gasped when she spotted her book and quickly pulled it off the shelf. She jumped up and down and squealed before jokingly placing it on the top shelf in front of another book.

The nice video ended with Sánchez signing a book.

The fly that flew into space follows a fly named Flynn who isn't the best in school but is still curious about life. During one of her adventures, she accidentally ends up in the cockpit of a rocket flying into space.

The endeavor turns out to be more than Flynn could have ever hoped for, as she learns about space and Earth and why it is important to protect them.

In August, Sánchez told PEOPLE how her own life experiences inspired the book.

“I was flying with my children and somehow a fly got into the cockpit of the plane. My children said, 'Oh no, that poor little fly is going to be separated from its family!' And I thought, 'I don't know, it sees the world from a completely different perspective,'” Sánchez recalls.

“It made me think of this funny story that even the littlest ones among us can have incredible adventures,” she added.

The fly that flew into space is now available in bookstores and online.
