Will there be a 5th season of “Emily in Paris”?

Emily swapped Bonjour for Buongiorno when she traveled to Rome in Part 2 to spend some time with her new boyfriend Marcello after her breakup with Gabriel. But pleasure quickly turned to business when Sylvie crashed their date and nearly destroyed the couple's budding romance.

Not nice, Sylvie. Not nice.

Thankfully, everything was sorted out and now it looks like Emily will stay in Italy to run Agence Grateau's new Rome office, at least for the foreseeable future, much to Gabriel's dismay.

A fifth season has yet to be officially confirmed.

Lily Collins had previously expressed doubts about the prospect of the series returning for a fifth season during an appearance on Vanity Fair's Still Watching podcast.

“We don't even know how the season will end when we start it because we don't know where it will end,” she said.

Despite the difficulties in predicting the future of the series, Collins previously expressed her hope for another season, telling RadioTimes.com and other media: “I really hope we get another season, so I hope people watch and love [season 4] and I would love to explore more of Italy when we get the chance.

“And of course more crazy work experiences, because the customers keep coming back and the drama never ends. I really enjoy that.”

Although season 5 has not yet been officially confirmed, there was a big hint about the future of the series earlier this month at an amfAR event at the Cannes Film Festival, when Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson announced that a guest role in season 5 of “Emily in Paris” would be up for auction.

“One of you will go home tonight with a role as an extra in the fifth season of the hit television series Emily in Paris,” actress Jackson told the audience, hinting that a fifth season may be in the works.

According to Variety, the highest bidder paid 250,000 euros to secure the role as an extra in the next episode of the show, which makes a fifth season quite likely.

The couple also mentioned, according to the publication, that filming for season 5 would begin in mid-2025.

Additionally, Deadline previously asked producer Darren Star about the possibilities for more seasons after the fourth, to which he replied, “I definitely think the show lives on after the next season. There's no end in sight until everyone feels like it's time to stop.”

He repeated this in an interview with Harper's Bazaar.

“I think the shows are about the characters' journeys, and the characters develop, mature and change,” Star said. “They don't stay static. So it's really about how the relationships develop.”

“Lily is really the star, no matter how many years this series runs. But we [also] have a wonderful ensemble of actors and we can tell stories about the other actors.

“So the show grows, the universe of the show grows, and the potential for storytelling expands. That, to me, is why the show keeps going.”

And it's worth noting that the ending of season four (which we'll get to in more detail in a moment) also suggests that there's a lot more to come.

Emily was put in charge of Agence Grateau's new Rome office after the company acquired Marcello's family business. And after a minor setback, Emily and Marcello are back on track and seem to be hitting their stride.

But in the finale of the fourth season, it became clear that Gabriel, who has finally earned his Michelin star, is not ready to let her go.

Will he win Emily back? And can they finally have a real relationship now that Camille is out of the picture because she has decided to adopt a child of her own?

Season 5 can’t come out soon enough…
