Former Michigan State receiver trusts Bills quarterback after strong NFL debut

The Buffalo Bills lost their two best receivers from last season, giving former Michigan State wide receiver Keon Coleman the opportunity to take on a key role.

If the team's opening game in 2024 was any indication, he's ready to do just that – and has the trust of Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Coleman was the Bills' leading receiver in both catches and yards in their 34-28 win over the Cardinals on Sunday, recording four catches for 51 yards.

Coleman's most notable catch came in a manner familiar to those who watched him at Michigan State and Florida State. With nine minutes left and the Bills trailing by four points, Allen threw a ball deep down the sideline and Coleman outplayed his defender and got into position to catch the ball that set up the game-winning touchdown.

Afterwards, Allen said that watching his rookie target play such a game gave him confidence for the future.

“After I saw that, I thought, 'I'm just going to trust the kid and let him do what he does,'” Allen said in the postgame press conference. “He made a great play there.”
