Kendrick Lamar headlines the halftime show of Super Bowl LIX 2025

Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.

Apple Music, Roc Nation, the NFL and Lamar himself have confirmed that the rapper will take the stage in New Orleans on February 9, 2025, three years after appearing on Dr. Dre's star-studded halftime show.

“Rap music is still the most influential genre today,” Lamar said in a statement shared with Weekly entertainment. “And I will be there to remind the world why. You did the right thing.”

In a video shared on social media, the “Euphoria” rapper urges his fans to tune in to the event while standing in front of a giant American flag on a football field.

“My name is Kendrick Lamar and I will be performing at Super Bowl LIX,” he says in the clip. “Will you come? I hope so.”

He adds: “You know there's only one chance to win a championship. No second round. Let's go get it.”

Lamar's upcoming performance marks the sixth year that Jay-Z's Roc Nation has programmed the show. “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “His deep love of hip-hop and culture shapes his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture worldwide. Kendrick's work transcends music and his influence will be felt for years to come.”

The announcement continues Lamar’s momentum this year. He has Billboard Charts with his new anthems “Not Like Us” and “Like That,” featuring Future and Metro Boomin. He also made waves by emerging victorious from his recent feud with Drake, which saw the two verbally spar with rival diss tracks.

Lamar has received much praise from critics and audiences since the release of his mixtape in 2011. Section.80For his 2017 album, DAMNEDHe won 17 Grammys and the Pulitzer Prize for Music, becoming the first non-classical or jazz artist to receive this prestigious award.

While it's not Lamar's first appearance on the Super Bowl stage, it will be his first as a headliner of the event. In 2022, Lamar was one of several icons to perform at Dr. Dre's West Coast hip-hop showcase: Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Eminem were also in attendance to perform their hits to an audience of 100 million.

Usher headlined last year's halftime show, which not only earned him three Emmy nominations but also became the most-watched halftime performance of all time.

Apple Music presents the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, which will take place on February 9 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. It will also air on Fox.
